Ourika Community Gardens
Since 2014, at the foot of Morocco's Atlas Mountains, YSL Beauty has cultivated a place of change: the Ourika Community Gardens — an environmental and biodiversity laboratory tended by a community of women.

Nurturing Women's Independence
By supporting the establishment of cooperatives for harvesting and tending to the gardens, YSL Beauty maintains an ongoing dialogue with these women — free and confident heroines. This social program promotes local craftsmanship, fosters women's financial independence, and inspires change throughout the entire region.

Powerful Plants Fuel Innovation
The Atlas region of Morocco features a harsh climate—scorching summers, freezing winters—and it is this contrast that tempers the finest plants. The Ourika Gardens are home to over 300 resilient species, extracted through eco-friendly processes. To date, more than 30 exclusive ingredients are cultivated for YSL Beauty skincare, makeup, and fragrance products.

Regenerative & Organic Farming
Regenerative farming and organic practices are the core principles behind the creation of the Ourika Community Garden. Designed by garden designers Ossart and Maurières, the vast main garden features four open walls and a square fountain, following traditional regional techniques. In collaboration with UEBT and ECOCERT, cultivation processes are continuously improved for the benefit of biodiversity, the climate, and the local community.
